Breakdown By Use

Domestic Classic Reward Flights

Classic reward flights within Australia are a decent use of your points, netting you 1 to 2 cents per point of value for economy flights and 4 to 7 cents per point of value for business flights.

When spent on domestic economy flights, 10,000 points are worth $100 to $200.

When spent on domestic business flights, 10,000 points are worth $400 to $700.

International Classic Reward Flights

International classic reward flights outside Australia are one of the best uses of your points, giving you the following value, depending on the cabin class you book:

1.7 to 3.4 cents per point for economy flights.
3.5 to 4.5 cents per point for premium economy flights.
5 to 10 cents per point for business flights.
7 to 10 cents per point for first class flights.

Classic Plus Fares

Classic Plus fares were introduced by Qantas in 2024. The points cost for these fares is not based on distance (as it is with Classic Reward fares), but on the cash price for the same fare.

These fares have a fixed rate of 1 cent per point - ie. a $1,000 flight will cost 100,000 points. They are generally considered a poor use of points.

10,000 points will net you $100 worth of value.

Points Plus Pay

Points Plus Pay has been around for longer than Classic Plus, but is based on a similar concept. You can use your points to lower the cash price of any flight, but at a poor redemption rate of about 0.6 cents per point.

Expect to get $60 of value for a balance of 10,000 points.

Qantas Marketplace

Qantas Marketplace is where you can purchase a variety of household and consumer goods using your Qantas points. The redemption rate is around 0.6 cents per point.

Hotels

With Qantas Hotels you can book hotel and other accommodation stays using your Qantas points. The redemption rate is around 0.8 to 1 cents per point.
